How To Make Salt Dough Recipe

Ingredients 

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Rubber spatula or spoon
  • Silicone mat
  • 2 cups all purpose flour (more for dusting)
  • 1 cup salt
  • 3/4 cup water (more if needed)

Directions

Step 1: preheat oven to 200°F. This low and steady temp will allow the ornaments to not bubble up when cooking. 

Step 2: in a large mixing bowl or stand mixer, whisk to combine flour and salt.

Step 3: over medium low speed, gradually add water, reserving a few tablespoons. Mix until well combined and just moist. Add remaining water 1 tablespoon at a time, as needed.

Step 4: using your hands on a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth. (The longer you knead, the smoother your dough and ornaments will be). Optional, use a hook attachment in a mixer.
