  • Black puff paint
  • Red glitter
  • Glue, liquid
  • Painters tape
  • Paint brushes, several different widths
  • Silicon mat
  • Twine or ribbon
  • Sharpie

How To Make

Step 1: make one recipe of white salt dough.

Step 2: roll out dough and cut out characters.

Step 3: using the straw, make one hole in the tops of each ornament to attach ribbon to.

Step 4: after baking and allowing all characters to fully cool, choose a character. Start by taping off one area of the character that you do not want painted, leaving just one area exposed to be painted by your little.

Step 5: instruct your little to only paint the exposed area, not the tape.

Step 6: once finished, remove tape and allow to dry and move onto another character.

Step 7: repeat this process until each character has one area painted.

Step 8: once the paint has dried, tape off the painted area and any other areas not needing the next color.

Step 9: paint the new area, repeat with all characters.

Step 10: repeat this process until all necessary areas of the characters have been painted.

Step 11: allow each character to dry before adding glitter to the bow. Apply a good amount of glue to Mini’s bow, brush on with a paint brush and add enough glitter to cover the whole bow, leaving nothing exposed. Gently tap the ornament to remove any excess glitter.

Step 12: outline each character with the black, following the impression lines created by the cookie cutter.

Step 13: allow to fully cool.

Step 14: attach ribbon or twine.

Step 15: have them sign their name on the back. If making tags, write on the back as well.

How To Play

This activity will depend on your Childs skill level, whether they will have fun and how much they can do. It is certainly one that the adult will do 90% of. However, including them in such a project is helpful in the development. Lastly, having them sign their names on the back will be something you’ll have to hold onto.
